Teen singer-songwriter duo Akdong Musician (Lee Chan-hyuk, Lee Su-hyun) defeated Bang Ye-dam at the finals of SBS “Good Sunday–K-Pop Star Season 2” (“K-Pop Star 2” hereafter) grabbing the final victory at the end of a five-month-long race. The live stage of “K-Pop Star 2”, which took place at Bucheon Indoor Stadium in Gyeonggi Province on April 7 from 4:55 p.m., was the final leg of the race for the two runners-up.

Akdong Musician, composed of siblings Lee Chan-hyuk (16) and Lee Su-hyun (13), prepared Hanson’s “MMMBop” that their rival Bang Ye-dam sang at the first round of the contest. On their final stage, Akdong Musician displayed more confidence than expected of such young musicians.

When all the stages were over, the jury’s points and viewers’ SMS votes were tallied, and the results announced Akdong Musician the winner of “K-Pop Star 2.” Akdong Musician ended the five-month-long contest victoriously.

“We had no idea we would come this far. We are just grateful to so many people,” said Lee Chan-hyuk. His sister, Lee Su-hyun, could not even speak as she was moved to tears.

Meanwhile, Bang Ye-dam, the final runner-up said, “I didn’t win, but I am happy I got to perform my stage.” By winning the show, Akdong Musician, who was living in Mongolia with their missionary parents when they heard about “K-Pop Star 2,” won prize money totaling KRW 300 million and a chance to debut immediately.
